That's Amore Crust

I have been wanting to make a crust that would go well with Italian type foods. I wanted something that would add a little flavor to a spaghetti pie or some other kind of pie with marinara or alfredo sauce, rather than doing a regular pastry crust. So, this pie crust was born.

1 c. flour
1/3 c. butter flavor shortening
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. italian seasoning
3 Tbsp. cold water
Directions 1. Combine flour, shortening, salt, garlic powder, and italian seasoning in food processor.
2. Mix until crumbly.
3. While mixing, add cold water.

4. Continue mixing until dough forms in a ball.
5. Roll out dough on a piece of floured wax paper.
6. Press into pie plate.
The Verdict
I was quite pleased with the way this crust turned out. It was a little difficult to roll out, so I ended up having to put down a little extra flour and make sure that my rolling pin was floured well, too. The flavor was pretty good. It was not overwhelming, but it definitely added to the overall flavor of the pie.
